INTRODUCTION

ALLEGRA contains Fexofenadine which belongs to the class of medications called second generation antihistamines, especially the class known as histamine receptor antagonists. It is prescribed for the relief of symptoms of seasonal allergic rhinitis or for the relief of symptoms of chronic idiopathic urticaria (hives). It may be taken with or without food. It should not be taken with fruit juice.

Allergic rhinitis is caused by allergens, which are usually harmless substances but trigger an allergic reaction in some people. Fexofenadine is an antihistamine used to relieve allergy symptoms such as watery eyes, runny nose, itching eyes/nose, sneezing, hives, and itching. It works by blocking a certain natural substance (histamine) that your body makes during an allergic reaction.

Always take this ALLEGRA as prescribed by your doctor. Avoid prolonged use of this medication, unless advised by your doctor. Do not stop taking this medication without consulting your doctor. Before taking this medicine tell your doctor if you have liver, kidney, heart problems and pregnant or breastfeeding. The common side effects are headache, drowsiness and nausea.
